ANATOMY CLASS FOR ARTISTS

begins January 15, 2019 runs for 6 weeks.

From reproductions of great masters drawings we will investigate anatomical structures and identify the structure of the human figure. We will progress through three stages of development, first we will sketch the bone structure in mind, observing the movement and flow of the skeleton as a whole, we will learn to place in space the major volumes of the human figure such as the skull, the rib cage, the pelvis and the curve of the spine then we will add by layers the muscles that are significant to define the movement or the surface of the figure. We will learn the origin, the insertion and function of the muscles. During the last session we will study from a live model with the emphasis of anatomy landmark that we have study.

SCULPTURE CLASS

Atelier France Hilbert @ Artwaves

This class for all levels is an introduction to sculpting the figure in clay.

From a live model, we will investigate anatomical structure and identify the basics of the human figure. Students will progress through three stages of development, first we will observe the model, collecting information about movement and flow, volume, composition and personal interpretation.

Next we will draw the model from various angles. In the third stage we will begin working with clay to develop the sculpture. Working on an 18" armature.

We will explore volume and unity in space, working to simplify the form as we refine shapes.

Hilbert’s teaching program is based on the creative process. Through practice and extensive exercises, the eye and hand become perfectly connected. Students acquire the tools that will become second nature to them.

Further, students will gain the advantage to make a drawing that looks more complete, and to explore the level of expression they choose to develop their own personal vision.
